Circa 1920’s Babe Ruth Single Signed OAL (Barnard) Baseball (PSA/DNA Graded 7)

Although Babe Ruth was a prolific signer of baseballs during the period of the mid 1930’s through the late 1940’s, the Babe’s signature rarely appears isolated on pre-1934 Official American League baseballs - those distinguished by their alternating red-and-blue stitched seams. During his heyday with the Yankees, Ruth usually signed flat items: photos, autograph albums, newspaper and magazine images, scorecards, napkins or scraps of paper. Given the opportunity, most fans in the 1920’s sought to gather team or multiple signatures on costly baseballs. This example of Ruth’s signature from the height of his playing career is centered on the sweet spot of a near perfect OAL (Barnard) ball. PSA/DNA has rated the signature a 7/10. The ball itself also rated 7/10 by PSA/DNA, displays only trace evidence of soiling and natural toning, and possess complete and bright manufacturer’s stampings, including 1928-31 A.L. President E.S. Barnard’s facsimile signature in red on the side panel. An overall PSA/DNA grade of NM 7 ranks this among the finest Babe Ruth single signed Barnard balls seen by that firm to date.
