1924 World Championship Washington Nationals Silk “Pillowcase”

This 22" by 22" silk “pillowcase” features the Washington Senators World Championship team posing at Griffith Stadium. It bears the “Washington Senators” team name prominently at the top. The piece has retained its spectacular color and still has the delicate rose-colored tassels intact. There are individual portrait images of Washington heroes including pitcher Walter Johnson and the club manager Stanley “Bucky” Harris. Hall of Fame outfielders Goose Goslin and Sam Rice, as well future Senators owner Calvin Griffith (as batboy) are also pictured. The front of the decorative artifact is in superior shape.
