- width 6.8cm, 2 3/4 in
struck with French prestige marks, probably Geneva, late 18th century
oval, the lid inset with a miniature portrait of a lady, possibly Austrian, the ground and base engine-turned in imitation of patterned silk and enamelled in translucent powder blue, the sides with further engine-turned devices, within scroll and foliate enamelled borders, the sides divided by urns

Condition
Excellent condition apart from enamel losses to borders, especially that framing the miniature (see catalogue photo) and the side border at base rim, which has lost approx. fifty per cent of its green enamel. The blue enamel surfaces and the miniature are in excellent condition.
