oval, in 18th century taste, the lid inset with a plaque painted with a mature Venus posing in elaborate dress, Cupid crowning her with a delicate halo of flowers, the sides and base enamelled in translucent green over wavy engine-turning, the borders of enamelled trailing leaves, berries and beads within opaque white lines, the sides divided by pilasters 

Condition

Excellent condition. The lid with minor firing flaws; the opalescent enamel beads with minor losses as expected; the hinge slightly loose; minor scratches to base.
