Description

  • widths 9.3cm, 3 5/8 in; 8.5cm, 3 3/8 in
the first apparently unmarked, Geneva, circa 1810; the second, maker's mark NB, struck 3 times



the first rectangular with cut corners, the lid inset with a gold panel engine-turned, after the manner of Romilly, with a cockerel near a palm tree, blue, black and white taille d'épargne borders, the ground trellised in black; the second rectangular, polished gold panels within blue and black enamel leaf borders

Condition

First: On the whole, an attractive box. The enamel of the lid panel is now entirely off. Tiny enamel losses to borders. The lid pins have been rather crudely re-inserted. Second: Generally good condition. The lid has been slighty dented from the inside. The hinge is a bit tight. Minor enamel losses near hinge at left rear and right front side corner of the lid.
