- width 9cm, 3 1/2 in
makers' marks S & C in script in a lozenge and SC crowned, with mark purporting to be French grosse garantie 1798-1809, probably Hanau, circa 1810
rectangular, the lid inset with a later enamel plaque painted with the arrival of the Queen of Sheba to visit Solomon, chased scroll and later gadrooned borders, the base chased with delicate marine subjects within feathery scrolls on a matted ground, narrow blue enamel borders

Condition
Very good condition. The lid edge mount is slightly crimped from having been off and reattached. The enamel plaque with firing flaws. The interior with pin pricks and some scratching.
