Description

  • width 8.9cm, 3 1/2 in
struck with French prestige marks (the interior of the lid with flanked charge mark of J.J. Prévost and discharge mark of Eloi Brichard), the box probably Lopez, Madrid, 20th century



rectangular with cut corners, the lid inset with an early 19th century Geneva enamel plaque painted with the disarming of Mars, Venus arriving accompanied by a bevy of cupidons, acanthus borders, the sides cast with swag-hung pillarets at the corners, oval panels with putto heads between, against engraved scrolled foliage

Condition

Excellent condition. The surface of the enamel plaque is slightly undulated from firing.
