circular, the cover decorated in low relief with five cherubs engaged in examining a globe, looking through a telescope and other intellectual pursuits, within formal foliage and husks incorporating vignettes of a squirrel and birds, the interior of the lid and sides and underside of the box variously engraved with tables

Condition
There is wear to the raised decoaration of the lid and at the centre of the base. Tiny gold losses to the rim of the base. There is a dent to the interior of the lid near the edge at 1 o'clock which is barely discernable from the extrerior of the lid. The engraved scientific data in generally very good condition.
