Description

  • 15.5cm, 6 1/2 in high
tapered cylindrical, armorial engraved, hinged cover

Condition

Slightly flaking on inside surface behind arms near rim, one split to rim at handle, some small dents to front, generally a nice colour and surface and in generally good condition, messy hard solder join to base of handle old repair, terminal of handle dented.

Catalogue Note

The arms are those of Swayne probably for Richard Swayne of Tarrant Gunville, co. Dorset, whose only child Abigail married in 1715 Wyndham Harbin (b. 1685) of Newton. Their only son, Swayne Harbin (1718-1781) married in 1760 Barbara (d. 1809), daughter and heiress of George Abington of Over Compton, co. Dorset.
