Description

  • height overall 56.5cm, 22 1/4 in
Dieppe, circa 1880

carved as a naked female figure clasping a cornucopia of flowers above a globe, attended by three amorini in a stem of openwork scrolls, ebonised wood plinth

Condition

Excellent condition. No apparent restorations. There are no apparent losses despite the inevitable chip to a leaf tip here and there. The central portion of the flowers issuing from the cornucopia is loose, but does not seem in danger of falling off. Suprisingly few small age cracks. The base of the wood plinth has warped slightly, causing a wobble, and needs to be sanded down or braced.
