unmarked but probably Charles Magnin, Geneva, mid 19th century



of unusual shaped rectangular form with incurved edges and corners, the lid engraved and partially painted en plein with a mediaeval couple receiving the blessing of a holy man, the border and sides elaborately engraved with scrolls picked out in black enamel, the lid and base corners chased with floral clusters, the side corners with bearded masks

Condition

Excellent condition. One hinge panel distressed and possibly replaced. Minor surface scratches to enamel.
