maker's mark R crowned incuse between two symbols, otherwise unmarked, circa 1790



circular, the lid painted en plein in lightly-tinted grisaille with the Sacrifice of Iphigenia, the sides and base enamelled in the palest rose and painted with further landscapes and figures within coloured paillon borders, the lid edged with split pearls

Condition

The lid and base are in excellent condition, but the sides have been completely repainted and lacquered some time ago, and the lacquer is cracking in one small place. We would not recommend bidding on this lot without first-hand viewing.
