rectangular, the lid inset with a Geneva enamel plaque painted with Hercules at the crossroads, choosing between Vice and Virtue, split pearl frame (one lacking) within a wide border chased with coloured gold scrolling foliage on a matted ground, the sides and base chased with elaborate scale and fleur-de-lis ornament within flower and scroll borders picked out in dark blue enamel
