French prestige marks including maker's mark MC crowned, perhaps for Marc Cellier, Geneva, late 18th century



circular, the lid painted en plein with Hector's farewell to Andromache and the young Astyanax, the sides and base enamelled in translucent blue within coloured gold husk and interlaced swag borders

Condition

All enamel panels on this box have been restored and there is some wear to the gold chasing particularly on the base. The lid enamel has been lacquered. There is uneven solder at join of lid and lid side.
