An Italian Partially glazed terracotta half-length figure of the Angel of the Annunciation, by Andrea della Robbia and Luca 'il giovane', early 16th century, Florence

modelled with long, wavy hair, leaning forward with benign expression, his left hand at his chest, the right holding the lillies, two rectangular apertures at the back for wings. 

Compare the faces of the angels in a set of four reliefs in the Louvre in Les Sculptures européenes du Musée du Louvre, Paris, 2006, pp. 112 and 113, by Andrea and his son Luca 'Il Giovane'. 

This lot is sold with a Thermoluminescence Analysis Report from Oxford Authentication Ltd. indicating that sample N106Z61A was last fired between 400 and 700 years ago.
