Catalogue Note
Candido Vitali was born in Bologna on September 8th, 1680 and died on 2nd September, 1753. His artistic training began in his native town in the workshop of Lorenzo Pasinelli, but he later moved on to work in Forli as a pupil of Carlo Cignani, and did not return home to Bologna until 1710. Vitali specialized in still life compositions with game birds, hunting dogs and sporting guns, and is known to have collaborated on pictures with Ercole Graziani and Antonio Beccadelli.
