Catalogue Note
We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the Rijksbureau voor Kunsthistorische Documentatie, The Hague for identifying this portrait to be a work by Jacob van Loo and datable to circa 1655-60. He notes that the still life of roses on the table is very close in style and handling to Simon Luttichuys (London 1610-1661 Amsterdam) and may well be by him.
