We are grateful to Dr. Werner Sumowski for identifying this painting to be a work by Thievaert, on the basis of photographs. He compares it to another work by Thievaert depicting the Queen of Sheba before Solomon in the Gemäldegalerie, Berlin-Dahlem (see W. Sumowski, Gemälde der Rembrandt-Schüler, Landau/Pfalz 1983, Vol. IV, reproduced p. 2769).
