TWO CEREMONIAL DAGGERS

Description

One, straight single-edged blade engraved to both sides with foliate motifs, deer in a woodland setting and items associated with hunting, the horn grip, embellished with acorn and oak leaf motifs, the hilt decorated with cloven hooves and a stylised scallop shell, accompanied by a black carved wood scabbard with brass mounts, length approximately 470mm; second, the curved slightly tapering watered-steel blade with single-edge and a broad ridged back, the hilt decorated with floral and foliate motifs of Koftgari, the velvet covered wood scabbard with brass open work mounts decorated with scrolls of flower and palmettes, Indian 19th century, length approximately 400mm.

Condition

The first in good condition with very minor abrasions to the blade, the hilt and scabbard with areas of minor patination to mounts and nibbles to tips of quillons. The second with minor areas of pitting and patination to blade and hilt, minor nibbles to blade tip and back, areas of rubbing to koftgari decoration, velvet of scabbard with abrasions to extremities, minor abrasions to mounts, sold as viewed
