Catalogue Note

The 1938 catalogue represented the present table as follows: "George II carved and gilded centre table with marble top, English XVIII Century, serpentine oblong top of brocatelle d'Espagne marble ..."  The table, although mis-identified as English, was clearly very highly thought of at the time inasmuch as it was one of the very few items which were illustrated in the catalogue.  It was sold for $85.
