An elaborate and rare Vienna pastoral group
circa 1785
modelled by Anton Grassi, in the round, depicting an amorous couple reclining against a flower-encrusted stone plinth, a seated child offering a doll to a standing girl, a girl seated with a hen gathered in her apron and a standing lady by a ewer standing on the basin of a dolphin fountain, the grassy base applied with leaves and flowers and edged with a gilt scrollwork border, shield mark in underglaze-blue. Restored, some chips and flaking to green enamel.
