Catalogue Note

A tureen of similar form, but with a figural knop, is illustrated by Rainer Rückert, Meissener Porzellan, pl. 133. no. 525, where, on p. 124, the author suggests Lücke as the modeller based on a work report entry referencing "Einen Henckel in Forma einer Sirena auf einen Eyß Topf" . A tureen of this form, with very similar decoration, is illustrated by Klaus-Peter Arnold et al, Meissener Blaumalerei aus Drei Jahrhunderten, pp. 149-150, no. 48. A similar pair of tureens was sold at Christie's, London, November 12, 1976, lot 18.
