The engraving reproduced below is from the Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers, published under the direction of Diderot and d'Alembert in Paris between 1751-1777 in 33 volumes.  This engraving from volume 9 "Tapissiers" depicts the interior of an upholsterer's shop, designed by Radel.  On the right hand side a delivery man is laden with a carrier holding bolts of fabric which appears to be of virtually identical form to the present lot.
