A Louis XV ormolu-mounted Chinese lacquer commode, stamped Dubois

  • Jacques Dubois, maître in 1742.

  • height 35 1/2 in.; width 50 1/2 in.; depth 25 in.
  • 90 cm; 128.5 cm; 63.5 cm
with an associated serpentine brèche de violette marble top above two long drawers veneered sans traverse with panels of Chinese coromandel lacquer, the sides with similar panels decorated with lions, surrounded by foliate ormolu borders, raised on cabriole legs with pierced ormolu chutes continuing to sabots. Restorations to lacquer; some mounts replaced.
