A Régence giltwood mirror
circa 1710

with an arched divided mirror plate and outer mirrored borders;  the molded borders carved with foliate scrolls, urns and stylized shell motifs.

The back inscribed in ink PR JJ

The initials PR JJ are suggested to be linked to the marchand miroitier Pierre Rabel de Corneville whose workshop was in the rue Grenetat in Paris.  The inventory taken after his wife's death in 1764 refers to the same mark which appears on three of the sixty mirrors listed.
