Condition
Fair overall condition relative to age superstructure with typical general age cracks some of which have discolored old in-filled restorations. The moldings around the top have losses, age cracks and old discolored restorations. Writing flap with characteristic minor warping and minor loss to beading. Leather to writing flap replaced. Handles replaced. One handle missing to left back drawer inside superstructure. Minor cracks and wear to bottom frieze moulding. Ink stains beneath writing flap. General old marks scuffs and scratches. Timber a good rich color with attractive figuring. Superior cabinet-work throughout. A good example of Carlton House desk which will respond well to sensitive restoration particularly to the superstructure which has some loose sections to the sides.
