Description

the rectangular frame with canted sides with reserves of scrolling foliage, vine leaves, grapes and grotesques within lappeted borders, the panel depicting, "Hector taking leave of Andromeda in front of the Trojan Portal" from Homer's, Iliad

Condition

Superb quality engraving. Some construction cracks at joints of frame commensurate with age, which can easily be filled. There are cracks on the panel with some very miniscule losses, particularly around border. Rebacked. Glass is later. The border of the frame is slightly loose in places where there has been shrinkage, but this does not detract from the piece. In overall good condition and highly recommended.
