Catalogue Note

Comparative Literature:
D.Ledoux-Lebard, Les Ebenistes Parisiens du XIXème siècle (1795-1889) leurs oeuvres et leurs marques, 1965, p. 543, for a Louis XVI style bureau plat with an identical frieze mount to that on this piece. It is stated to be by Raulin. The form of the piece and mounts is reminiscent of the work of the celebrated 18th century  ébéniste Jean-Henri Riesener.
