the 7-inch enamel dial signed Julien LeRoy A Paris, similarly signed movement with flat-bottomed plates, anchor escapement with silk suspension, star-cut outside count wheel striking on a bell, the well modeled rococo case surmounted by a seated boy with a birdcage and bird, further applied with boldly cast floral and foliate mounts,
Condition
Gilding more golden and less orange and much more natural and attractive than in the catalogue illustration. Good quality casting. Dial in good condition. Movement needs a clean, silk suspension is defective. One mount loose on case which can easily be refixed. With pendulum and a winder. An attractive model in overall good condition.

Catalogue Note
Julien LeRoy, (1686-1759), was born at Tours and in 1699 went to Paris to be apprenticed to the clockmaker Pierre Le Bon. He became a master clockmaker in 1713 and in 1739 was made clockmaker to the King. He died in Paris in 1759.
