- 53cm. high, 89cm. wide, 37cm. deep; 1ft. 8¾in., 2ft. 11¼in., 1ft. 2½in.
in the roman manner of rectangular form with six drawers panelled with geometric motifs within a turtleshell border with ivory stringing, the drawers inlaid with geometric motifs in lapis lazuli, Siena marble and rosso antico, on later ebonised flattened bun feet
Provenance
Formerly in the collection of Ralph Dutton, 8th Lord Sherborne (1898-1985), Hinton Ampner House, Hampshire and presented as a gift to the gardener by the family prior to the house being bequeathed to the National Trust, upon Lord Sherborne's death.
Condition
There are old minor restorations to breaks in the pietra dura panels. Old minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age. There are hairline cracks in the top and sides, which can either be left or filled which are normal with usage. There is a very small triangular section of the veneer on the rear left corner which is missing which can easily be restored. In overall good condition.
