Description

  • 256cm. high, 156cm. wide; 8ft. 5in, 5ft. 1in.
the rectangular plate surmounted by a pierced stylised scallopshell cresting above a cartouche engraved with figures in a landscape, the frame carved with flowers, rocaille and scrolls

Condition

Colour of gilding is less yellow and slightly darker and more natural and attractive than in photograph. The cresting and the carved sections have been strengthened at the back. It is possible that the two acanthus leaves at the base of the cresting are later replacements. The gilding has been varnished. There is an old break where the top right scroll joins the cresting but this can easily be re-glued. An impressive mirror in overall good restored condition. Measurements: H = 246 cm; W = 160 cm
