Description

  • one 60cm. high, 50cm. wide, 32cm. deep; 1ft. 11½in., 1ft. 7¾in., 1ft. ½in., the other 58cm. high, 44cm. wide, 28.5cm. deep; 1ft. 10¾in., 1ft. 5¼in., 11¼in.
each with a waved faux marbre top, the frieze mounted with a grotesque mask above a rocaille, scrolled floral cartouche enclosing a pair of billing doves, the base of one with a female mask, the whole decorated in pinks and greens on an ivory ground

Condition

Colour less greenish and more attractive than in the catalogue illustration.The tops of both have losses to the faux marbre which can easily be restored. There are hairline cracks in the tops. There are drying out cracks as visible from the photo and the birds have been restored in several places and have lost their colour. There are old very minor chips to both commensurate with age and the gilding and some of the painted decoration has been retouched. In overall good condition.
