Description

  • 46cm. high, 29cm. wide; 1 ft. 6in., 11½in.
with a gilt-bronze ribbon-tied floral wreath containing Arabic enamel numerals within a plinth shaped base, above a bow and arrows flanked by a quiver of arrows at the angles, with a standing child figure in drapery flanking a scallopshell with a compass and shell below, on a rectangular plinth, with a putto holding a butterfly in one hand a flaming torch in the other, seated on a floral swag on block feet, the figure blowing bubbles (pipe now missing)

Condition

Colour of gilding less greenish, more golden and attractive than in catalogue photograph. The long hour hand is missing as visible from catalogue photograph and can easily be replaced. Attractive detail to casting. There is evidence of previous fixing on base by the compass. The figure has been lacquered. Some minor wear to the base as visible from photograph. In overall good condition.
