Condition

STRUCTURE Original canvas. PAINT SURFACE There is an even cracquelure consistent with age. There are specks of scattered surface dirt which could be cleaned easily. Stretcher marks are visible. Some paint loss has occurred towards the edges of the canvas. There is an abrasive mark to the lower left, and a similar but more minor mark, upper left. ULTRAVIOLET Ultraviolet light reveals no re-touching or repair work has been carried out. FRAME Held in an ornate gilt plaster frame.
