Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE The general appearance is good. There are some extremely minor surface abrasions to the lower left of the canvas. ULTRAVIOLET Ultraviolet light reveals extensive re-touching. FRAME Held in a gilt plaster frame.

The sitter is probably Sir John Gibson (1637-1717).
