Condition

STRUCTURE The canvas has been lined. PAINT SURFACE There is some cracquelure in keeping with age. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals some scattered re-touchings to the sitter's face and to the background. There is evidence of some older re-touchings to the background, including a passage to the lower right hand corner, and a similar sized area on the left margin just below centre. FRAME Held in a later wood frame.
