bidding is closed
Description
- Francis Swaine
- A ship run aground
- oil on canvas
Condition
The canvas has been lined. There is some minor craquelure to the paint surface. There are some discoloured retouchings which are visible under a strong light.
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals a thick varnish which obscures a clear reading. However, there is evidence of the aforementioned retouchings. There is a minor damage to the lower right hand corner which would be easily remedied. This is visible in the catalogue illustration. There are a few spots of varnish to the paint surface.
Held in a gilt wood frame.
