The canvas has been lined. The work would appear to be in generally good condition. There is a weave of craquelure to the paint surface which is characteristic for paintings of this age. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals some scattered retouchings to the edges of the canvas, to the sitter's costume, as well as some infilling to lines of craquelure in the sitter's face and the background. Held in a gilt wood frame.
