Michael Dahl 1656 - 1743

bidding is closed

Description

  • Michael Dahl
  • Portrait of a lady
  • oil on canvas, in a painted oval
Half length, wearing a red dress and a green cloak

Condition

The canvas has been lined. There are a few minor damages, one by the sitter's right eye, one in the sitter's hair, and a couple in the background. These are all minor. Examination under ultraviolet light reveals some retouching to these aforementioned damages. A thick varnish obscures a clear reading, but there is no further evidence of any recent repaint. Held in a carved wood frame.
