Catalogue Note
Painted on door panels for the home of George Lambert's second cousin Amy Nield and her husband Joseph, are scenes imbued with romanticism and energy. The flourish of blossoms and lovebirds creates an interlude and symbolic reflection of the outside panels, reflecting the phases of youth and old age. The panels are thought to relate to Joseph Nield's waning years and were believed to decorate a room with spectacular views across Sydney Heads.
