Hand-colored engraving with etching and aquatint, by R. Havell, 1830, on wove paper with the J. Whatman 1830 watermark, with wide margins, a 3 inch L-shaped tear at the upper sheet edge, a horizontal crease in the left margin at center extending into the image, the sheet edges with tears and soiling, pale scattered fox marks, light- and time stain, framed

Condition

The tear at the upper sheet edge measures 2 inches vertically and 1 inch horizontally and is not repaired. There are three c. 1 1/2 inch tears at the right sheet edge which are also not repaired. The lower sheet edge has a 1 inch forked tear which has been repaired and two shorter tears which have not. The paper tone is darkened by light- stain and all over surface soiling, darkest at the sheet edges. Foxing is pale and strongest in the upper margin and around the upper plate edge. There is a 5 inch horizontal crease in the left margin at center extending into the plate. The upper sheet edge has two tape hinges on the verso.
