Catalogue Note
As with all of the carousel companies, carving styles changed over the years. This large outside row standing horse is a great example of the style found on Dentzel carousels from 1890 to 1895, particularly because of the excellent condition of the original paint. The carving design was most likely developed by Charles Leopold, foreman of the carving shop at the time before he moved to the E. Joy Morris Company.
