Description

  • Length: 54.5 cm
of ovoid form and plano-convex section, the front decorated and incised with traditional linear motifs, and traces of traditional designs in red and white pigment, with cracks at the top and bottom infilled with resin, the reverse with traces of red pigment and a white strip towards the base, branded twenty four times with the number '6' and once with the number '7', deep cut lug handle, traces of red pigment

Condition

Shield has two deep cracks at each end which have been infilled as 'bush repairs' with resin. There is substantial pigment loss and a number of holes and small scars in the surface from use.
