Description

  • Length: 64 cm, 93.5 cm, 57.5 cm
comprising a carved and painted catfish totem, a decorated spearthrower and a traditional tobacco smoking pipe, all decorated in red, white and yellow pigments

Provenance

Collected by Mr Alan Rea in 1940 when with the Australian Military Forces in Darwin

Condition

No restoration or repair. All items have suffered pigment loss though remaining pigment appears stable. The tobacco pipe is severely cracked at the bowl end and the native string binding on the spearthrower is loose.
