Condition
The slate engraving by Alec Mingelamanganu is in sound and stable condition. There are significant areas of black paint loss on the slate prior to the engraving and a small chip in the lower left corner. This is clearly evident in the catalogue reproduction.
The slate attributed to Ildephonse Cheinmoro has minor chipping along the external edges, evident in the catalogue reproduction which do not detract from the overall work. There are areas of pigment loss predominantly to the dark brown pigment and a section of the tan pigment running down the left hand arm of the wanjina, also evident in the image.

Catalogue Note
According to anthropologist Kim Akerman, Idelphonisus is probably Ildelphonse Cheinmoro, a Kambere man from the Vanstittart Bay area to the west of Kalumburu.
