Description

  • Length: 75 cm
carved in hardwood, of elongated ovoid form, the gently curving convex front carved with fluted designs divided into three sections to form a zig-zag motif, the bands infilled alternately with red and white pigment, the reverse engraved with fluted striations divided with fluted crossbands in four sections, and elegantly carved loop handle

Condition

The fine example appears to be in remarkably good condition. There is a fine crack approximately 4 cm long at one end of the shield.
