Catalogue Note

This painting is sold with accompanying documentation that reads: 'The curved shapes in the work are GillGills (sand hills) surrounding a small waterhole-soak water. Small soaks like this were important stop over places in a very harsh environment, for the people living a traditional lifestyle in the Great Sandy Desert. The small circle in the center is the soak.
The smaller "U" shapes with the black lines running through, represent the elders who are first to approach the water. This area of "Minyalga" is the site where Billy's father died, when Billy was a young boy.'
