Details & Cataloguing

Serge Mouille
PAIR OF "MOULE" HANGING LIGHTS

Provenance

DeLorenzo 1950, New York

Literature

Pierre Émile Pralus, Serge Mouille:  A French Classic, Paris, 2006, p. 148

Catalogue Note

This pair is originally from a set of ten variant examples with an extended post.  Four from the series were formerly in the collection of Wolfgang Joop (sold Sotheby’s New York, December 12, 2003, lot 401).  The rare “Moule” or clam shade with minimally restricted light and the contractive brass ball socket give this form an elegant simplicity.
