Overall in excellent condition with moderate wear. Originally designed by Evans as a single, monumental sideboard, it was divided at a later date for the owner into two smaller consoles. The metal frames with scratches and nicks to the edges and feet, minor areas of corrosion scattered throughout and rubbing to the metal surfaces. The sculptural elements of the doors are in fine condition, with surface dirt and normal wear to surfaces. The applied metal decoration to frame with minor areas of lifting and a slightly more shiny appearance to the three panels between the doors on one sideboard, possibly replaced. Hinges with small corroded areas, but they remain structurally sturdy. Slate tops were removed and left outdoors for a period of years, and they have significant patina, white paint residue, surface scratches and marks. The two tops vary slightly in color with minor chips to edges throughout. The interior is painted a bright red wash revealing one shelf in each compartment with surface scratches and normal wear consistent with use. Lacking shelf hardware. Superb decoration and pattern of elements on the exterior of the doors.
