Condition

Overall in good original condition. This piece has spent some time in storage and therefore has suffered some slight drying to the wood. This is especially evident in the Asa no Ha doors of the case. Overall the case with surface scratches, nicks, dings and areas of surface dirt throughout. There are white paint marks to the top and front of the doors as seen in the catalogue illustration. With minor losses from nicks concentrated to the corners of the case. The proper left doors open to reveal three drawers to the farthest left compartment and three shelves to other compartment on the left side of the case. The shelves are marked IP and indicate the direction of the top surface with an arrow. With the current configuration of the doors, one of the doors needs to be lifted out (they are on a simple track) in order to open the drawers. The bottom drawer has swollen with age and is currently unable to be pulled out. The farthest proper right compartment with a black painted metal swivel stand for electrical equipment. This appears to have been a later addition to the piece as there appear to be remnants of wood shelves for drawers similar to the other side of the case. The other right side compartment reveals three drawers. The two compartment with drawers are fitted with seven small light wood dividers in the center portion. The shelves are grooved for the dividers, which can be removed. The back of the piece is an unfinished piece of wood and therefore the piece is intended to be used against a wall. With small nicks and pulls to the pandanus backing of the Asa no ha doors. Overall the condition issues are relatively minor and could easily all be minimized with professional restoration. It is an oversized example of a rare model.
